Feed My People Food Bank
Team Tiry was part of the Realtor Association team that helped pack up 617 pounds of food at the Feed My People Food Bank. Team Tiry also sponsors the Empty Bowls campaign each year. This food bank supports 14 counties in our area and over 70,000 people receive food from them each year!

Well, we managed to get the park flowers all cleaned up between the rain lately. We even had someone drive up while we were there working and said that they loved the flowers this year! Aaron was busy planting some new perennials that we bought for next year and I can’t wait to see them come up in the spring. Team Tiry has been doing this flower bed for the City of Altoona since 2008!

Team Tiry had a blast at the ninth annual DANCING WITH THE EAU CLAIRE STARS that was held Friday, September 8 at Zorn Arena on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Based on the popular television show, the event features local celebrities competing in two rounds of dancing. The event is a benefit for the Eau Claire Children's Theatre. Hike for the Homeless
Team Tiry is proud to be a Platinum Level Sponsor of the 2016 Annual HIKE for the Homeless! The Hike raises awareness around issues relating to homelessness and its causes. Benefiting this program includes the Beacon House, a shelter for families with children who are homeless. They also provide services to families and pregnant women who are temporarily homeless or at risk of homelessness and offer the resources for emergency assistance, stabilization, and prevention. To maintain the Beacon House it is truly a team effort requiring the combined talents of staff, volunteers, congregations and board of directors. This network of volunteers provides the evening meal for the families as well as staff the building overnight.

One in 10 adults in the Chippewa Valley lives with low literacy skills. Literacy Volunteers is a community literacy organization that combats this statistic. By improving their literacy skills, people strive to break from the cycle of poverty. They are looking for a hand up, not a hand out. Agnes' Table is served each Tuesday evening at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls, and is coordinated by Starting Points, an organization which provides emergency housing and other services to the indigent and homeless in our area. Various community organizations, businesses and church groups volunteer to serve meals on a rotating schedule.

Eau Claire Food Bank
Today Team Tiry spent the afternoon at Eau Claire's food bank. We helped sort food, pack them into boxes, and got them ready to ship out to local food banks. We thought there was a lot of food to sort for one day, but we found out that they are very low on donations compared to 2007. It's amazing to see how much work is involved with programs like these. The behind the sceens look was very informative.

Devney Park Altoona
This summer the Altoona Park and Recs came to us and asked if we would be intersted in planting some trees at Devney Park to shade the spectators watching baseball. We said "Definitely!" So we were off to find some trees. We found 5 trees that we liked and planted them ourselves. If you drive past the park in the early morning, you can often see Aaron watering them!

We love flower gardens and wanted to share our passion with our community. The city of Altoona said they didn't have any money in their budget to make a flower bed, so we gladly volunteered. We made this flower bed and planted all the flowers. We also maintain this each year with much enjoyment. If you drive by in the morning, you can often see Aaron watering the flowers!
